Signed receipt for one guinea to Richard Westmacott ARA, on blue paper, 55x228mm, dated [Monday] 11 December 1848. The slip is tipped into a copy of Memoirs of the Life of William Collins, Esq., R.A. London 1848 by Wilkie Collins, presumably the copy for which it is a receipt.

W. Wilkie Collins



Richard Westmacott (1799-1872) was a sculptor. His father, also called Richard  and an artist is shown left. He knew William Collins and is mentioned in Memoirs (I 23). The younger Richard became a full RA in 1849 and was professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy 1857-1867.

Another receipt to William Buckland dated two days earlier is also known.
