Dear Listener

First an apology. For reasons no-one can understand you received last week’s newsletter on Wednesday – four days after the programme went out! Let’s hope the system works better this week. Sorry.

We start this week with the latest developments in the story about bank charges. Thousands of people have been busy recovering millions of pounds in fees for going overdrawn without permission as the banks prefer to pay up rather than let the courts decide if they have to. But this week a judge finally handed down a decision and he found in favour of the bank – in this case Lloyds TSB. Campaigners tell us ‘Don’t panic’ carry on reclaiming. We sound out the views of other judges. And we hear from the man who lost his case about what he plans to do next.

The Government wants mothers and fathers to be able to share the last six months of maternity leave. So if the mother goes back to work before her maternity leave ends the father can take paid paternity leave instead. Friendly to families. But is it hostile to small businesses? Either way it won’t start before April 2009.

More than 4000 small shareholders in Eurotunnel could lose their right to unlimited and almost free travel on the cross channel shuttle service if a restructuring plan goes ahead.

And Paypal – the online payment system which has an astonishing 15 million accounts in the UK – is moving its HQ to Luxembourg. Will that make it more difficult to sort out problems?

More on all those stories on Money Box – live on Saturday at noon, repeated Sunday at 9pm and any time (after midday) on the web.

Best wishes
