Government plans to introduce Home Information Packs for every property sold in England and Wales have been thrown into doubt. After a critical report from the House of Lords this week Conservative MPs will force a vote in the Commons two weeks before the packs are due to start on 1 June.

Another laptop containing sensitive data has been stolen. This time thieves have got personal and financial information on 26,000 staff of a major employer. Do we need tougher laws to stop the data leaks?

There's new hope this week for thousands of older people trapped in their homes by debt. Money Box learns there will be a compensation scheme for some of the people who took out a mortgage which gave the bank the right to most of the growth in the value of their home.

In the week that the last of the energy suppliers announces cuts in the price of gas, the government's energy regulator tells us that he won't be demanding more. He says it is our job to keep prices down by making competition work.

And the National Trust explains why visitors are being asked to pay 10% extra to visit its properties.
