Dear listener,

On Saturday's programme... The banking empire fights back in what does feel like Part V of Charges Wars. The Office of Fair Trading tells us what makes bank charges illegal as it launches an investigation into the penalties on unauthorised overdrafts. And in what promises to be a ding dong, the banks come on live to say they are acting fairly - and legally, while consumer organisation Which? says, well, they're not.

After that we ask why taxpayers are subsidising life insurance for the first time since 1984. And should you let a 40% discount drive your decision on insuring your life? An insurance adviser advises.

Plus we investigate why listeners with perfectly good credit records are being sent demands from debt collectors - with the help of credit reference agencies.

And we find out why HM Revenue & Customs is writing to more than three million people inviting them to pay more National Insurance - then in a PS saying, errr, maybe they shouldn't.

With the added bonus of some brief bits of news, you literally cannot afford to miss Money Box - just after midday on Saturday, repeated Sunday at 9pm and of course all week on the web.

By the way, you can now hear a trail for the programme exclusively for the web too - with sound effects!

Best wishes,

Paul Lewis
